–> [THE SURVEY IS CLOSED] <–

We’ve been working furiously the past couple of weeks between surveying computer technicians, researching/testing out recommended computer repair software utility tools, and compiling the best ones into the (soon-to-be-released) Tech Utility Pack 3.0 software. The list of tools we are integrating includes tons of killer apps. Our current list is at 193 software utilities and 15 auto-scripts split up into 34 categories!

Below is a never-before revealed complete list of all the tools that will be included in Tech Utility Pack 3.0. This list is likely to grow/change organically once we open Tech Utility Pack 3.0 to beta testing.

PLEASE NOTE: We will not be distributing all of these tools pre-packed with the Tech Utility Pack 3.0. Instead, we will be pre-loading their direct download/update links inside Tech Utility Pack so that each user can choose which tools to keep and which to delete. When a user launches Tech Utility Pack he/she will be able to press a button and automatically download all 193 software utility tools directly to the Tech Utility Pack directory. This process will ensure that we are complying with each software program’s license agreement while still providing the user with a complete, automated, system for storing, organizing, downloading, updating, and launching all the tools portably.

We are stunned with the level of interest in our soon-to-be launched Tech Utility Pack 3.0 software. After surveying our list of computer repair technicians and IT business owners, we noticed a lot of the same questions and concerns coming back to us. So, we’ve put together this update to address those questions and concerns. Unfortunately, we cannot answer all of the questions in their entirety right now as we are still working out all the features with the software; however, we are going to answer them below as best we can now and follow-up with the rest of the answers next week.

Here are our answers to the top questions/concerns we’ve received regarding the Tech Utility Pack 3.0:

QUESTION #1: “Is this what your current Windows Renew Partners only use when servicing their customers?”
ANSWER #1: No, the Windows Renew Service is a separate service we teach our partners. This is not the sole tool our Windows Renew Partners use to service their clients’ computers. The Tech Utility Pack is an add-on resource we provided to our partners in the past. The upcoming 3.0 release is going to be very robust and a complete overhaul of the entire system. We are also adding 20-30 more software programs and dozens of computer auto-scripts designed to tackle the majority of computer problems you will run into when servicing client computers. These software tools will automate and fix many of the tedious tasks we find ourselves having to perform.

QUESTION #2: “How much will the Tech Utility Pack 3.0 cost?”
ANSWER #2: This is by far the most popular question we have been receiving, and I understand why. Our honest answer is that we just don’t know yet. We’ve been so busy with working out the final features of the software tool and answering emails from our readers that we haven’t had the time yet to really sit down and determine a fair price. This is something we are going to think long and hard on and we will follow up with you next week.

QUESTION #3: “Which operating systems (Windows, Mac, Linux, etc.) will the Tech Utility Pack 3.0 be compatible with?”
ANSWER #3: The first release of Tech Utility Pack 3.0 will be designed to launch portably on Windows XP, Vista, and 7 machines; therefore, the software tools and scripts included in the pack will all be Windows-based tools. As for which operating system will each individual tool be compatible with…that will depend on the tool. You will receive a cheat sheet .pdf that gives an overview of each utility included, it’s function, and which operating systems it is compatible with. A key function of the Tech Utility Pack 3.0 is that it will automatically download and keep the latest version of each tool in its relative directory. Therefore, the majority of the tools will work with Windows 7 right out of the gate. Our goal after launching 3.0 will be to start working on a potential Mac release that features Mac tools.

QUESTION #4: “Will Tech Utility Pack 3.0 be bootable when burned to a CD or stored on a thumb drive? Will the tools also be bootable?”
ANSWER #4: Yes, Tech Utility Pack 3.0 is being designed to be portable and relative so that wherever it is stored (whether on CD, thumb drive, hard drive, etc.) it will be launchable right from that directory. The majority of the software tools included in the pack are also portable. Any portable tools added to the pack will also be launchable right from their directory. We are working on building in support for non-portable software tools as well so you can add commercial programs to the pack for easy install/deployment.

QUESTION #5: “Will there be a description on what the individual tech tools do?”
ANSWER #5: We are currently working on a ‘sneak-peak’ list of some of the tools included so you can see some of the tools before getting your hands on Tech Utility Pack. As soon as we are finished with this list, we will post it as an update to this website. Everyone who purchases the Tech Utility Pack 3.0 will receive a cheat sheet that provides an overview of each tool included, what functions it provides, and what operating systems it is compatible with.

QUESTION #6: “Can I add my favorite programs to Tech Utility Pack 3.0?”
ANSWER #6: Yes, we are designing the software so that you can add your own programs to the initial list of programs already included. This allows the software to be expandable so that you can have all of your software tools stored, organized, up-to-date, and ready to launch from the same interface.

QUESTION #7: “What utilities are included in the pack?”
ANSWER #7: We are currently working on a “sneak peak” list of tools included so you can take a peak before buying the Tech Utility Pack. We should have that to you next week. One of the benefits of the Tech Utility Pack software is that it will include the top 50-60 software programs that our thousands of computer tech readers have told us about. There are thousands of tools available online, and a lot of them are junk. The Tech Utility Pack will save you the time needed to search and test all the tools out. It will include a list of ONLY the top tools recommended by other computer repair specialists like you.

QUESTION #8: “When is the official launch date of the software so I can get a copy?”
ANSWER #8: We have not set an official launch date yet but we are looking at releasing the software in 10-14 days.

QUESTION #9: “Will you have an affiliate program?”
ANSWER #9: You know, this is something we didn’t even think about! Many of you asked this question. I guess we are still in the mindset we were originally in when we first created the Tech Utility Pack. We never looked at the software as a money-maker, but instead as a challenge to us to build something really useful that had not been created for computer techs before. So I guess our answer to this questions is…”maybe”. We first want to release the software to you, give you an opportunity to purchase it and use it. Then, we’d like to get your feedback, make any necessary additions/updates to the software and re-release it with a possible affiliate program opportunity. We wouldn’t want or expect you to participate in an affiliate program for something you’ve never tried before. We want you to love the software and really believe in its usefulness before even considering selling it to your peers.

QUESTION #10: “Will you be able to add commercial programs that you own to the interface?”
ANSWER #10: Yes. We are adding support for commercial programs. You will be able to store them in the same interface. The only feature that may or may not work for your particular commercial program will be the auto-update feature. The auto-update feature relies on knowing the direct link to download the latest version of the software. Freeware programs typically do not hide this information, as the software is freely available to the public. Tech Utility Pack has built in intelligence to auto-change the download links to fit the latest version. You will need to know the link url though for the auto-update feature to work with commercial tools you add.

So what do you think so far? Are there questions we didn’t address above that you’d like answered? Post your comments and additional questions below…
